REQUIREMENTS:

Must be a native English speaker. Those from North America will be given priority.

Must have an associates degree or higher. 

Must be willing to relocate to Kagawa or Ehime prefectures.

Must go through the visa processing. This process takes approximately three months. If you are already living in Japan, you must have the Specialist in Humanities/International Relations or be willing to switch your visa to the one mentioned. 

Preferred immediate availability. 

Full time and part time contracts available. Couples are welcome to apply.

Applicant must provide their own transportation to Japan. If applicants are already living in Japan, they must provide their own moving arrangements and transportation to the city they are placed.

Gem School was founded in 1981 in Shikoku, Japan. Since our founding, we have grown to a total of 12 different school locations throughout Kagawa and Ehime prefectures. Our school is an English conversation school or "eikaiwa". We specialize in English conversation with Japanese students. Gem School teaches students of all ages through a variety of classes. We are constantly seeking enthusiatic, fun, and lively applicants with a passion for teaching English. 

LOCATION

Gem School is located in Shikoku, Japan, one of Japan's 4 major islands. We operate in several cities throughout Kagawa and Ehime prefecters. These prefectures offer a perfect combination of city-like atmosphere and an abundance of nature, scenic views, and traditional architecture. Kagawa and Ehime are the northern prefectures of Shikoku with a coastline on the Seto Inland Sea. The prefectures are surrounded by lush green mountiains, charm, and beautiful sights to explore. 

JOB DESCRIPTION

Our school is constantly growing and we are always seeking energetic, creative, and engaging individuals to join our team. Our primary goal at Gem School is to create a fun and exciting environment where students can come and engage in English conversation with our teachers. 

Teachers are responsible for teaching English to students age 0 to adult by engaging them in a fully immersed English environment. Other responsibilities include creating exciting lessons, materials for events or the classroom, participation in events and other activities, among other things. 

Work weeks are from Monday to Friday and Tuesday to Saturday and Teachers are assigned their schedule based on the current need. Teachers may also be requested to work on some weekends  for special events.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be a native English speaker (North America preferred)
  • Associates degree or higher
  • Must complete the Gem School interview process


WHAT GEM SCHOOL HAS TO OFFER:

Housing will be set up before the arrival of applicants.

A work cell phone will be provided for applicant use upon arrival.

A company car will be provided for applicant use to and from work.

Upon completion of the contract, Gem School will provide a one-way flight home.
