Job Requirements:

Successful candidates will be required to:
  • Be a current resident of Japan
  • Be a university graduate
  • Have either: 1) majored in early childhood education or 2) hold a certificate or license related to early childhood education or 3) have 2 or more years of teaching experience.
  • Be native-level speakers of English with conversational Japanese ability
  • Demonstrate great communication skills and flexibility in solving problems.
  • Tailor their teaching to the needs of individual students, as required
  • Show a true passion for early childhood education

Job Description:

  • Campuses in Mitaka, Harumi, Waseda and Shibaura
  • 2.88 to 3.84 million yen annual salary

The Aoba International School Group is looking to fill a total of five classroom teacher positions at various preschool locations around the Kanto area. The schools are located in Harumi, Waseda and Shibaura and Mitaka. The Harumi and Shibaura campuses include bilingual baccalaureate programs (with plans to expand this program to include the Waseda and Mitaka campus in a few years) which focus on inquiry based learning – the core pedagogical base for the baccalaureate bilingual approach to education. Positions start at various times depending on the needs at each campus.

As a classroom teacher you can expect to:
  • Make age-appropriate curriculum and deliver effective lessons
  • Offer engaging and high-learning-effect lessons to the students
  • Check student progress and provide feedback/guidance
  • Manage team meeting with Japanese staff
  • Assist with planning school events and outreach to parents
  • Engage students in a variety of disciplines like music, art, sports, extracurricular activities and more

*Please note that it is understood you will be able to participate in all of the above duties using both English and Japanese.

Working conditions:
  • 2.8 to 3.84 million yen annual salary with one bonus a year
  • Up to eight hrs/day (with a one hour break), Monday through Friday
  • 12 paid leave of absence a year with special holidays as per company policy
  • Transportation costs covered
  • Enrollment in National Health and Pension schemes, Employment Insurance and Industrial Accident Compensation Insurance
  • Visa sponsorship for qualified applicants

Aoba’s screening process will consist of two interviews and potentially include a demo lesson depending on prior teaching experience. Further details will be provided over the course of the screening process.
