Job Requirements:

  • Must be a native speaker of English, or have acquired an education in English for at least 12 years. 

  • Must have completed a University Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in English countries.

  • Must have a strong interest in Japanese culture and language and be able to connect with Japanese people.

  • Must have at least one year of English teaching experience at Elementary Schools, Junior High school experience of working with children.

  • Must have a valid visa status that allows you to live and work in Japan (Visa sponsorship available).

  • Priority: Conversational Japanese. ​
  • Priority: International OR Japanese Driver's license (must commute to school).

Job Description:

The placement will be in Elementary schools, Junior High Schools, and High Schools throughout Kanoya City in Kagoshima Prefecture, where the ALT will assist as a team teacher and help plan English lessons under a schedule created by GLAD and the Board of Education.

With weekends off, national holidays, summer and winter vacations all aligned with the local Board of Education calendar, you will have more than enough downtime to make the most of your time in Japan.

Contract dates:
Late August 2018 - March 2019 (Note: Must be willing to move before September)

Conditions:
・Monthly base salary is 240,000 ~ 260,000 yen per month. 
・Monday to Friday. Between 8:30 am to 16:30 pm.
・Days off include weekends, National Holidays, and other holidays set on the Board of Education's school calendar.

Aizuwakamatsu, also known as “Samurai city” is located in Fukushima prefecture with a population of around 125,000 people. With a strong grasp of Japanese historical roots, Aizuwakamatsu, a castle town contains old houses of merchants which stand alongside modern buildings. Nature lovers can also experience the allure of Japan as the city is surrounded by breathtaking views of Lake Inawashiro and Mount Bandai, covered by heavy snow in the winter.
