  • Have some experience working as an English teacher, preschool teacher or ALT

Job Description:

GnoKids English School, managing six schools in the Tokyo area (Seijogakuen, Jiyugaoka, Kyodo, Shirokanetakanawa, Nihonbashi and Tamaplaza), is looking to expand their staff of teaching professionals by two positions starting in April 2019. Teaching at GnoKids centers around the practical use of language so that students can feel the joy and fun of communicating their thoughts and feelings. GnoKids understands that maintaining student motivation is key to broadening horizons and pushing the walls of the classroom outward to encompass the entire world. While this position starts as a contract position, there are opportunities to move to unlimited term contracts pending performance reviews and availability of positions, making this a good long-term option for teachers in the Kanto area.

As an English teacher you can expect to:
  • Design and deliver lessons for young students (up to elementary age)
  • Plan and manage school events as part of a team
  • Assist with videos, graphic design and marketing
  • Lend assistance for test preparation and returnee entrance exams to junior high school
  • Communicate with parents and guardians to create an open and welcoming environment
Working conditions:
  • 1 year contract
  • 7 hours and 15 minutes of work a day, scheduled over Monday to Saturday for a maximum 5 days a week with two days off (typically between 10:30 to 18:30 on weekdays, and between 9:30 to 17:30 on Saturday)
  • Annual salary of 3.24 million yen
  • Signing bonus of 80,000 yen and another 80,000 yen after working two years
  • Transportation cost reimbursed up to 100,000 yen per month
  • 10 paid holiday a year in addition to 5 summer and 5 winter holidays
  • Enrollment in National Health and Pension schemes, Employment Insurance and Industrial Accident Compensation Insurance
GnoKids’ screening process will consist of two interviews, typically in-person in Tokyo. A demo lesson may also be included. Placement to a specific school location will be determined if a job offer is made. Further details will be provided over the course of the screening process.
