About the Role:

We are seeking an Insurance Operations Director to manage the launch and ongoing operations of our product in Japan. 

This includes day-to-day management and overseeing Trov’s insurance operations in Japan. The role encompasses operational decision making, governance oversight, financial & product management, operational reporting and stakeholder management. The likely candidate will have operational experience in insurance, strong communication skills, exceptional attention to detail and a proven capacity to work autonomously in a remote capacity.

Job Description:

Responsibilities:

The candidate will be accountable for the following tasks:  

  • Oversee the product launch in the Japanese market including working closely with local partners and regulators
  • Manage the daily operations of the Japanese business including oversight of claims management, customer service, and timely resolution of issues
  • Work with cross-functional teams across the business including finance, analytics team, and engineering to build and scale the product
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting to insurance partners, regulators and investors
  • Support execution of distribution partnerships  

About You - Requirements:  

  • 5 -10 years P&C insurance experience in the Japanese market
  • Strong product and insurance knowledge including familiarity with regulatory environment
  • Financial literacy - ability to understand and interpret performance analytics
  • Stakeholder management skills - ability to develop strong relationships across all levels
  • General management experience including being the central point person for the local market and overseeing claims management and customer service
  • Self-starter with the ability to think on their feet and respond quickly to resolve issues
  • Strong project management abilities
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work with remote teams

Language Skills:

  • Fluent written and spoken Japanese
  • Fluent written and spoken English
