RIKEN is Japan’s largest and most comprehensive research organization for basic and applied science. RIKEN scientists are on the leading edge in a variety of scientific fields. For example, in 2015 a research group led by RIKEN was recognized as the discoverers of nihonium, a new element on the periodic table, and in 2014 RIKEN scientists began the first human study using pluripotent iPS cells. In 2016, a new center was established within RIKEN focusing on artificial intelligence research. Working as a translator in RIKEN means providing support to outstanding researchers from around the world who come here to do leading-edge research that is contributing to a better world.
