Job Description - Immediate Start

SSIS is looking for dynamic teachers to join our PYP team in an authorized IB World School. There is a FT opening for a kindergarten teacher. Inquiry, collaboration and dedication to teaching and learning are hallmarks of SSIS. SSIS has continued to grow and further expansion is expected, therefore leadership opportunities are available for the right individuals.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities of a teacher include:

ensuring the safety and wellbeing of students;

attending school as required by contract and being punctual to classes;

meeting internal and external deadlines;

writing, compiling and producing both routine and extraordinary reports on students as required;

Reviewing student learning and providing appropriate feedback in a timely manner;

meeting students’ parents and guardians in person as required;

bringing to the attention of the administration students with specific educational, behavioural or emotional needs;

maintaining the appropriate appearance of teaching rooms for which they are responsible;

accepting the collective responsibility of all school staff to maintain order and enforce school expectations regarding student behaviour;

participating in the annual professional appraisal process;

active participation in the creation, development and revision of the school’s written curriculum;

discharging effectively such supervisory duties as may be assigned by the school administration.

Benefits

Faculty new to PYP will participate in a IBO sponsored PYP workshop. Contract type determines additional benefits. FT working hours are M-F 8:00am - 4:00pm. Japanese language classes are scheduled TWTh.

Job Requirements

Language requirements - Native English speaker for homeroom positions, Native/near-native Japanese speaker for Japanese language teaching

Applicant must currently be living in Japan

Applicant must be legally able to work in Japan

BA/MA in Education

Homeroom teachers - Certified or licensed to teach in your home country in Early Years, K-6, K-8 or K-12; must be able to teach ELA, math, social studies, science, PSPE

Single subject teachers - Certified or licensed to teach your subject

Minimum 1 year teaching experience required

Familiarity with using e-mail, Google Suite and the willingness to learn other platforms

Experience in PYP preferred
