Helena English School is recruiting a full time native English teacher to join our team in December 2021, January or February 2022. If you are looking for a new opportunity in Japan that is creative, engaging and impactful, look no further than Helena!

Helena has been providing English language lessons for over 45 years within Ibaraki prefecture. Our main office is located in Tsukuba city with two other branches surrounding cities.

We offer a variety of lessons and programs for all ages from baby to adulthood. Our mission is to provide an authentic English experience for our students. To do this we hire teachers from all over the world! In the past, we’ve had teachers from the US, UK, Canada and even New Zealand!

By creating fun, safe and engaging environments for our students, we are able to effectively teach useful, real life English!

Do you need to have prior teaching experience?

All new teachers will receive comprehensive, hands on training – this means no prior training or experience is required. We make sure every teacher is readily equipped with the knowledge and skills to provide a quality and engaging lesson.

• Perfect Attendance/Professional Conduct Award:    At the completion of the full term of this contract the employee will be entitled to receive ￥10,000 per month.  (¥120,000 max per year)

Job Requirements
What are the MINIMUM job requirements and preferred qualifications

※English: Native level
※Desire and ability to work with young children
※BA/BS Degree from an university
※Valid Visa to stay in Japan (You have to be in Japan now.)

No prior professional teaching experience is required, but any experience working with children is a huge bonus. Most of our students are children between the ages of 4-14, so any prior experience will be beneficial to your performance.

The most important qualification is a positive attitude and willingness to learn. We can train you in teaching techniques but we can’t train you to be cheerful, warm and patient with students. You must be outgoing and passionate during class in order to expect the same from your students!

We will have an online interview first. Then we move on to a face to face interview next.
