While having teaching experience is a plus, it is not necessary to become a good teacher. Our company offers great training at the start, where you will receive daily feedback to prepare you in becoming an independent teacher. We also have follow-up training and veteran staff and teachers who can guide you on the right path.  What is most important is that you have an open-mind, the capability to work with students of all ages, and an appreciation of Japanese culture and tradition.

職務内容

Here at Annie Global Education, we are not just a one style English school. We are a fairly large company that is involved in a plethora of things. We have 英会話(Eikawa) classes, which are 50 minute private lessons where students will come once a week. These classes, you are provided a curriculum to follow. Additionally, we partner with some other jukus throughout Japan where we teach online classes to their students. These classes are 20 minutes long and are usually with high school students. We help prepare them for their university entrance exams. Curriculum is also provided with this style.

Apart from these two styles, we also have our own international school. This is an after school program where students will come multiple times a week for two and a half hour classes. Although the main curriculum is laid out, the teacher is expected to be able to come up with the daily activity, craft, etc.

Our company also provides classes to local public and private elementary and junior high schools. We do an after school, one hour English lesson at elementary schools, teach high level English (grammar, writing, reading) at a private junior high school, and will sometimes have a contract with a local city where we supply ALTs. So there are many opportunities to learn all different aspects of teaching while at our company.

Besides the English classes, we have company wide events held throughout the year. These are usually once each in spring, summer, and around Halloween. We are a main sponsor of our local professional basketball team, so we attend a game together about once a year. Summer time is usually an excursion. In the past, we have gone grape picking, to Legoland, and Little World. Lastly is our Halloween party. We have a day jam-packed with events and games while the entire staff dresses in costumes. Additionally, there might be special “English Days”, which are special events where students can sign up to partake in crafts or do experiments.

Job Schedule

Monday-Friday (weekends free except for above event days/possible other events)

Typical working schedule - 2pm-930pm (this can change depending on which type of school you are at)

One week off for Golden Week (end of April/early May)

One week off for Obon (middle of August)

Two weeks off for Christmas/New Year’s holidays (before Xmas to after New Year’s)

Usually, we have off between 135-145 days off per year. This is higher than most other companies and allows the opportunity to travel and explore new places.

Why Aichi?  Aichi prefecture is conveniently located in the Chubu (Tokai) region of Japan. The capitol city of  Aichi is Nagoya, is the fourth largest city in Japan, based on population. It is easily accessible and is like a smaller version of Tokyo. The two main cities our company operates out of are Toyota and Toyohashi, which are the 2nd and 5th largest cities in Aichi prefecture. Along with the beautiful cities, Aichi has some great nature spots. Beaches, hiking trails, mountains, and rivers are all around, so there are plenty of opportunities to explore not only the cities, but the outdoors as well.

Aichi also boasts an international airport, which is about a ninety minute train ride from either location. This can be used to see what else Japan, or other countries have to offer during one of our breaks throughout the year.
