Job Description

Are you passionate about science and eager to share your knowledge with young minds? We are seeking an enthusiastic and adaptable Science Mentor to join our weekly summer school program focused on inspiring and educating students in the world of science. If you have a background in teaching kids or science outreach and enjoy fostering a love for scientific exploration, we want to hear from you!

Position: Science Mentor

Program Duration: 3 weeks

  • 8/1-8/4
  • 8/7-8/10
  • 8/14-8/18

Hours: 8:00 - 17:00

Location: Tokyo, Laurus International School of Science Shiba Campus

Responsibilities:

  • Engage and mentor students in interactive and hands-on science activities.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment to encourage curiosity and critical thinking.
  • Develop and deliver engaging science lessons, experiments, and demonstrations suitable for the age group (specify the target age group, if applicable).
  • Guide and support students in their scientific inquiries and projects.
  • Collaborate with the program coordinators to develop curriculum materials and lesson plans.
  • Monitor and assess student progress, providing constructive feedback and encouragement.
  • Promote safety measures and ensure students follow proper procedures during experiments and activities.
  • Inspire and motivate students to explore the fascinating world of science beyond the classroom.

Requirements:

  • Passion for science and a strong desire to inspire young minds.
  • Quick adaptability and ability to adjust to the needs of individual students.
  • Experience in teaching kids or science outreach programs preferred.
  • Knowledge of scientific principles and the ability to explain complex concepts in a simplified manner.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, parents, and program staff.
  • Strong organizational skills to plan and execute engaging lessons and activities.
  • Creativity and resourcefulness to explore innovative approaches to science education.
  • Patience, empathy, and enthusiasm to inspire students with diverse learning styles and abilities.

Pay Rate:

20,000yen per day
*Negotiable depending on experience
