Job Requirements
We are looking for enthusiastic and dedicated individuals to join our team as Afterschool Program Instructors. You will be conducting our program sessions at Partner International Schools during afternoon hours on weekdays in Tokyo, Yokohama and other neighbouring areas.
Minimum Job Requirements:
- Language Proficiency:
- English: Fluent (written and spoken) for communication with students, parents, and team members.
- Japanese: Not necessary
- Living in Japan: The applicant must currently reside in Japan. We are not accepting overseas applicants at this time.
- Visa Requirements: Candidates must possess a valid visa allowing work in Japan (e.g., work visa, permission to work, spouse visa, or a long-term resident visa). No assistance with visa sponsorship will be provided.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, Child Psychology, or a related field.
- Experience: A minimum of 2 years’ experience working with children in educational, afterschool, or camp settings.
- Certificates/Licenses:
- Teaching certifications, such as TEFL or TESOL, are an advantage.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to engage in active sessions, including games, movement, and physical activities with children ages 5-18 (You may give us your preferences of age groups but candidates who can cover a variety of age groups will be given preferences)
- Work Days/Hours:
- Monday to Friday, between 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM (depending on the schedule of the partner schools).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience:
- Prior experience in afterschool programs, camps, or extracurricular activities is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with implementing educational programs focused on creativity, language skills, critical thinking programs.
- Licenses/Certifications:
- International teaching licenses (IB, Montessori, or similar) are a bonus.
- Special certifications in child development, drama, art, or music are highly regarded.
- Work Hours Flexibility: Willingness to assist with occasional morning or weekend sessions during peak periods.
- Travel Flexibility: Willingness to travel to our partner schools on different days of the week as per confirmed schedule (Travel expenses will be provided)

Expectations and Responsibilities:
As an Afterschool Program Instructor, you will:
- Lead engaging activities in areas like language, art, drama, and STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math).
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during activities.
- Foster a positive learning environment where children feel encouraged to express themselves and try new things.
- Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to provide updates on their child's progress.
- Support program logistics such as setting up spaces, managing materials, and ensuring a smooth flow of activities.
Day-to-Day Activities might include:
- Conducting storytelling sessions, drama games, and interactive language-building exercises.
- Supervising arts and crafts projects that promote creativity and fine motor skills.
- Leading games or challenges designed to promote teamwork and problem-solving.
- Managing small group work, where students collaborate to complete mini-projects or presentations.
- Providing feedback and guidance to students as they develop their skills.
