About us and the role

ALTs enrich the lives of children by sharing their knowledge of English, building communication skills, and sharing cultural insights. The job is rewarding as you will be directly promoting a cultural understanding and teaching English to Japan’s future generation! Your job would be two-fold: a language instructor and cultural ambassador. These two aspects are inseparable, and Interac ALTs aim to become experts in both. Your job is to be the English expert in the classroom, and you may be the main teacher, along with a Japanese teacher present to manage the class.

About Fukuoka and Kyushu

Interac’s Fukuoka office commands the whole of Kyushu from the crown jewel of Fukuoka City. Most opportunities are in suburban to rural areas and often require driving due to the distributed local transport network in the prefectures. Fukuoka City is Japan’s 6th largest city and welcomes many tourists on flights from Korea and China. The Tenjin area is a popular shopping district, with an underground shopping park that goes for blocks. Enjoy cafes and restaurants without getting rained on year-round. The Hakata area is well-known for its late-night ramen carts called “Yattai.” These thin-noodle shops serve up ramen with a thick pork broth. The Seaside shopping area is a popular summer attraction, and the beaches have passable waves for surfers, although other prefectures in Kyushu offer better places to hang ten. Many ALTs who choose the Fukuoka branch choose to remain there, and the area is an upcoming center for business and technology. For someone looking for delicious food, interesting sights, and a more laid-back attitude compared to the megacities on Honshu, Fukuoka is a great choice.
