We are looking for an experienced English teacher with Japanese language skills and appropriate visa for a part-time English teacher position at our school. We offer an initial 1 year contract with a view to full time, long term employment. Work starts from March / April 2021.
Our school is located in Harima Town, half-way between Kobe City and Himeji City. Financial support is also available for teachers who currently reside in Japan and who wish to move close to our school.
Transport fees allowance available.
Classes are Mon ~ Fri with the latest class finishing at around 9pm or earlier. All classes are currently taught on the premises. The pay of ¥3,000/ 1 hr lesson is ¥2,500/hr contact time plus an extra ¥500 per class for preparation/tidy up time. Other duties such as minor admin tasks and basic cleaning, etc, will be paid separately. We want you to feel rewarded for all effort, not just for your teaching.
Students are kindergarten age to mature adults, with most being elementary school age and whose classes feature phonics and the New Finding Out series as the core material. Teachers are encouraged to enhance and extend the content as they see fit and we welcome your ideas and are happy to try new things. Among the ample teaching resources, you’re welcome to use the computers, wi-fi, the piano or the guitar to liven things up, if inclined. Classes are planned so students can engage enjoyably with the lesson content, learn effectively and progressively improve.
You do need some level of Japanese ability for this job as you will need to liaise with students and parents from time to time – just tell us if you are not so confident with your Japanese and we can find a way to help you. Our teachers here are very supportive.
We have a kitchenette and space to chill out, which you’re welcome to use.
No weekend classes so those long weekends are all yours.
The closest station is only a few minutes walk away (Sanyo Harima-cho), with both Sanyo and JR lines giving you quick access to Kobe and Himeji cities.
Nearby facilities include a gym with indoor pool, big grassy parks with bbqs, river-side cycling/walking tracks, library, fun local bars & restaurants, and yes, even a local McDonalds.
