Job Description

Tierra Com is a nationwide juku (cram school) company looking for a professional and enthusiastic English Instructors to work in our schools teaching elementary and junior high school students.

We are currently offering a position teaching at our main school in Kanazawa city (Ishikawa Prefecture).

This position is available to Japanese or foreign applicants currently residing in Ishikawa prefecture.

The position will involve teaching elementary school and junior high school students English using the course material provided.

Position: English teaching assistant (Renewable contract)

Position Starts: Start of September (possibly some hours in mid-late August for training)

Work hours: The position is available as either a full-time or part time position.

Full time: 40 hours per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday)
Part time: Saturday: 11am-7pm Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 4pm-9pm

(Applicants may be asked to change their schedules in the school holidays when the school’s lesson schedules also change)

Prospective candidates:

• Are experienced in teaching English.
• Have Japanese conversation ability (required to talk to staff and parents on the telephone).
• Have good communication skills and are eager to learn new things
• Are active and enthusiastic

• Teaching experience (preferably in Japan)
• Currently residing in Japan with appropriate working visa valid for at least the first six months of the contract (Visa sponsorship is not initially available, but may be possible in the event of visa renewal)

Main duties and responsibilities:

• Teach students using the company`s curriculum and teaching methodology
• Teaching English lessons during the week and weekends to elementary and junior high school students
• Completing and updating daily teaching records
• Helping with lesson preparation and tidy-up

Benefits

Salary: ￥250,000 per month full time plus ten hours of overtime payments. (Part time is paid on a pro-rata basis to this salary).

Vacation time: Ten paid days per year (after six months of employment), rising on renewal. Five extra days in the event of a return to one's home country for vacation (and then returning to work)

Incentive based on student numbers paid twice a year.
