Two immediate start positions are currently available at Model Language Studio:

FULL-TIME STANDBY INSTRUCTOR

The Full-Time Standby Instructor must be based within the Tokyo metropolitan area (preferably centrally located). This instructor will receive two-weeks of paid training, after which they will begin full-time work. The Standby Instructor's main location is at our Minami-Shinjuku Studios. Each day, they will be on call for substitution work at one of our 29 studios. On days when substitution is not necessary, other duties will be preformed at our head offices, including administrative work, props and materials development, curriculum development, and other office-related work. Successful instructors will have a variety of opportunities for advancement, including into a full-time schedule at set locations. Furthermore, this is an opportunity to gain valuable experience in a Japanese office setting where communication in both English and Japanese occurs on a daily basis.

• Salary: ¥250,000 per month
• Class times: average start/end times are 10:00/19:00
• Schedule: Tuesdays to Saturdays
• Monthly Attendance Bonus: ¥5,000 on top of your salary for perfect attendance
• Paid set vacations: 9 days for Golden Week; 15 days for summer and 16 days for winter
• Transportation costs: to and from place of work is fully reimbursed
• Student ages: 6 months to 15 years old (with possibility of adult classes)

PART-TIME (SATURDAY) INSTRUCTOR

The Part-Time (Saturday) Instructor will have a set schedule of Saturday classes at one of our 29 studios located in the Tokyo Metro area. This instructor will receive two-weeks of paid training, after which they will begin part-time work. Beyond the Saturday class schedule, opportunities for other part-time work will likely become available throughout the year. As they will have already completed training, successful instructors could potentially move into full-time positions after finishing their contract.

• Salary: ¥2,500 per hour
• Saturday Instructor Bonus: ¥5,000 possible each Saturday with more than 5 teaching hours
• Class times: average start/end times are 10:00/19:00
• Paid set vacations: 9 days for Golden Week; 15 days for summer and 16 days for winter
• Transportation costs: to and from place of work is fully reimbursed
• Student ages: 6 months to 15 years old (with possibility of adult classes)
• Location: to be confirmed, but likely in one of our West Tokyo Studio locations

ENGLISH THROUGH DRAMA!

MLS was founded in 1974 and our instructors teach via our unique "English Through Drama" method. Our client base is diverse, including children of all ages, adults, international corporate companies, and even world-renown actors and singers. Our 30 schools are situated close to mainline stations within West Tokyo, Saitama, Yokohama, Kanagawa and Chiba. All of our studios put an emphasis on fun and creative expression--that means you'll never have to wear a suit or teach in a cubical!

APPLICATION ESSENTIALS
Successful candidates will have:

• Native level English (both spoken and written)
• A current and valid working visa (extension sponsorship OK)
• Some kind of teaching experience or training (preferably with ages 6 months - 15 years old)
• An interest in drama / performance art and an open, energetic, and creative personality

TRAINING and SUPPORT
Our instructors all receive comprehensive (and paid) training. We are there for you every step of the way! There are training and support meetings every Friday morning throughout the entire year for all 1st year full-time instructors. Also, the MLS staff is always available to assist instructors to ensure they have all the tools needed to create great lessons. The curriculum is set, established and effective, but our teachers are encouraged to add their own creativity!
