Position: General Manager – Osaka
Reports to: Japan General Manager
Start date: March 2020
Schedule: Full-time, 9:30 to 18:00 Monday to Friday (must be prepared to accept that there are regular occasions when a task is required to be performed outside of normal working hours)
Introduction to the role:
As our internship programs in Asia continue to impress our participants, university partners, and government education authorities, CRCC Asia’s Japan General Manager and the Director of Program Operations is looking for a committed and motivated young professional to become our General Manager for the new Osaka Internship Program which will be preparing for it’s second summer in operation.
The multifaceted role combines:
- Operating an office and program team in Osaka
- Partnership building/Business Development with relevant organisations in the Osaka area
- Program management including direct contact with participants on the CRCC Asia Osaka program
- HR, Finance and Operational Management
The position offers a unique professional opportunity related to a variety of fields including higher education, international education, career development, international relations, travel and tourism.
Requirements:
- Minimum Bachelor’s degree education, preferably in a business related field
- Proven leadership/project management experience (minimum 2 years)
- Organization skills with acute attention to detail, ability to multitask and prioritize duties in a dynamic work environment
- Understanding of CRCC Asia business model, company culture, and internship programs
- Flexible and adaptable to ever changing situations and demands
- Previous experience/knowledge of the Osaka city area
- Fluent English and preferably fluency in Japanese or N2 level
- Existing right to work in Japan
Additional Attributes:
- Experience in study abroad, education and/or consulting fields highly desirable
- Diligent self-starter able to work towards deadlines
- Strong knowledge of Japanese business codes, culture & customs
- Ability to multitask, think logically and provide quick decisions on problem solving situations
Tasks and responsibilities:
- Business development
- Establish relationships with partner organizations for the placement of interns
- Develop and implement strategies to source partnerships for internship placements
- Explore a variety of industries in order to meet the demand for internships
- Responsible for the Osaka operations and staff, including development of the team, selection of the local service providers, managing office budgets
- Attend events, seminars and conferences to promote and develop CRCC Asia’s brand in Osaka
- Program management
- Develop a calendar of cultural, social, business and community outreach events
- Provide pastoral care to participants during their program, issues may range from logistical or cultural support to emergency situations
- Work with University Partnership Managers to ensure program adheres to the requirements of bespoke or customised programs
- Monitor and maintain CRM system to ensure placement progress, incidents, and events reporting for participants is kept up to date
- HR management
- Alongside the CRCC Asia senior management team determine staffing requirements and plan temporary workforce in advance for peak/off peak season
- Alongside the CRCC Asia senior management team conduct training and onboarding process for new employees / trainees
- Ensure compliance to local laws & company wide processes
- Implement team building activities and create a friendly and hardworking team ethos
- Support for global / company-wide projects - including writing blogs on Osaka-specific topics
- Financial management
- Build, manage and maximise office, program and operational budgets alongside the CRCC Asia finance team
