ALTIA CENTRAL is accepting applications to join our team of fantastic ALTs with openings in Gifu City, Gifu Prefecture from September. If you would like to work in a public school with one of the most reputable and successful companies in the ALT industry, then please apply now.

Gifu City is just 20 to 30 minutes from Nagoya on the regular trains and is an urban/suburban city of 400,000+ people. With its own rich history and natural surroundings, Gifu City has a lot to offer and makes a wonderful place to live and work.

These are mixed positions at both elementary and junior high schools with one position also including a kindergarten. Each position will start from September 1st with Orientation Training in late August. Unlike many other locations, driving is not required in Gifu City so it’s a preferred placement for non-drivers who are OK walking, riding, or taking public transportation to school.

ALTIA CENTRAL will be conducting weekday interviews on an ongoing basis at our offices in Nagoya and Osaka, as well as making several weekend recruiting trips to Shizuoka, Tokyo, Okayama and Hiroshima as necessary to meet local applicants. During our regular recruiting seasons we also interview overseas in a number of cities in the US, UK and Australia.

Our ideal applicant is a native English speaker with a bachelor’s degree (or higher) who is flexible, culturally sensitive, and motivated to go the extra mile to provide a positive experience for students.

We would also prefer applicants who have previously spent some time studying or working in Japan, and as many ALT positions do require driving, we prefer people who can or would be able to drive in Japan.

ALTs work in public schools assisting Japanese teachers, helping to provide enjoyable and energetic lessons, and interacting with the students both inside and outside the classroom. Working as an ALT is a great opportunity to improve your Japanese language ability through cooperation with Japanese staff, to experience and appreciate cultural differences, and most importantly, to be positively involved with the development and well-being of young children.

ALTIA CENTRAL enjoys an excellent reputation, positive relationships with Boards of Education, and is respected by the English teaching community in Japan. We operate mostly in the Chubu area, especially Aichi, Gifu, Mie, and Shizuoka prefectures, areas further west such as Shiga, Okayama, and Hiroshima, along with a number of contracts in the Kansai area as well.

Our highly experienced native-English speaking supervisors offer a stable, reliable and extremely professional support system. We also provide excellent teacher training, a wide array of top-quality educational resources and a comprehensive benefits package including generously paid vacation periods.

If you are interested in applying and have the work ethic and enthusiasm to represent our values while making a real difference in Japan’s public schools, please visit our Recruiting website for further details about ALTIA CENTRAL. Please note that successful applicants will need to be available for Orientation/Training  in late August before starting in school.
