This position would be suitable for one or more applicants depending on the availability and preferences of the applicants.
The job involves working at both the YMCA in Kotesashi, near Tokorozawa, and at a jidokan after-school childcare facility, also in Kotesashi.
The jidokan is sponsored by Tokorozawa city, but the YMCA has the responsibility of overseeing the day-to-day running of it.
We are looking for somebody who is enthusiastic and has experience working with children to work as an assistant language teacher/childcare assistant at the jidokan two or three days a week between Monday and Friday. One of the days must be on a Friday but the others are negotiable depending on availability. This position will require the successful applicant to speak English with the children and to provide English lessons a few times a year. The ability to speak Japanese is not important as there are English-speaking staff at the jidokan.
The salary for this position is negotiable depending on experience.
At the YMCA centre, we are mainly looking to fill classes on Wednesday and Saturday. The Wednesday class is a two-hour afterschool class for our kindergarteners. The Saturday schedule is pretty much all day, from 9:30 to 15:30 (6 hours). These classes involve teaching English to elementary-age children in the morning, and taking part in a team-teaching class in the afternoon where a fun, creative curriculum is followed.
