Job Description

We are currently looking to hire a new part- time English teacher that can start working from January 2020 at our small yet growing school. This position is designed to grow into a full-time position and possibly allow the teacher to take over the entire school (if desired).  We are looking for someone who can start teaching as soon as possible. If you are energetic, professional and love working with students of all ages, we would love to have a chance to meet you for an interview.

This is a great position for someone that wants to teach and learn how to run a school in the view of taking it over in due course.

Work Location: Modern English Ikeda (Ikeda, Osaka) - two-minutes away from Ikeda station (Takarazuka Line)

Position Basics:
Initial Work Schedule: Tuesdays and Saturdays
Tuesday – 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm: 3 lessons
Saturday – 8:30 am to 5:00 pm: 7 lessons (including 1-hour lunch break)
(As student numbers increase additional lessons will be added.)
1 Week Sumner School / Halloween Party / Christmas Party
Student ages: Ages very from baby up to adult

Prospective Candidates:

  • English ability: Native-level or Near-Native Level
  • Japanese: Not required
  • Must currently reside in Japan with a current Japan working visa
  • Must have a 4-year university degree (in any major)
  • Must have at least 1.5+ years teaching experience (preferably with children and adults)
  • Must have a TESOL/TEFL/CELTA type of certification including a 120 or more hour training element (online TEFL certifications not recognized)
  • Must be hard working, professional, dedicated and flexible
  • Must be a team player and proactively support others
  • Must submit your resume along with photo and cover letter

Training and Support:

Receive comprehensive (and paid) training. Owner and head teacher/Manager are available to assist to ensure that you will have all the tools needed to create great lessons. The curriculum is set, established and effective, but there is room allowing (and encouraging) teachers to add their own creativity.

Compensation:

A 3-month Probationary Period at 100,000 yen upon successful completion pay will increase to 120,000 yen. (When the teaching schedule reaches 20 lessons per week permanent employment will be offered and pay increased)
