ALTIA CENTRAL is accepting applications from in-country candidates who are available immediately to join our team of fantastic ALTs in Gotemba, Shizuoka from April, 2020. If you would like to work with one of the most reputable and successful companies in the ALT industry, then please apply now.

We will be conducting 1-on-1 interviews on an ongoing basis in our head office in Nagoya. We typically interview in our Osaka office as well as travel to other cities such as Tokyo, Shizuoka, Okayama, and Hiroshima for weekend interviews. However, at this time we will not be traveling for interviews and instead will be more open to using Skype for those that are unable to come to Nagoya. Gotemba City is a great location, literally right on the side of Mt. Fuji with beautiful views, a warm climate, and just a little over an hour or so from the greater Tokyo area. The position would be for two elementary schools only and the ability to drive is strongly preferred.

In addition to Gotemba, we are also looking for ALTs for other areas of Japan, such as Okayama, Aichi, and Gifu prefectures.

Our ideal applicant is a native English speaker with a bachelor's degree (or higher) who is flexible, culturally sensitive, and motivated to go the extra mile to provide a positive experience for students.

We would also prefer applicants who have previously spent some time studying or working in Japan, and as many ALT positions do require driving, we prefer people who can or would be able to drive in Japan.

ALTs work in public schools assisting Japanese teachers, helping to provide enjoyable and energetic lessons, and interacting with the students both inside and outside the classroom. Working as an ALT is a great opportunity to improve your Japanese language ability through cooperation with Japanese staff, to experience and appreciate cultural differences, and most importantly, to be positively involved with the development and well-being of young children.

ALTIA CENTRAL enjoys an excellent reputation, positive relationships with Boards of Education, and is respected by the English teaching community in Japan. We operate mostly in the Chubu area, especially Aichi, Gifu, Mie, and Shizuoka prefectures, areas further west such as Shiga, Okayama, and Hiroshima, along with a number of contracts in the Kansai area as well.
