Job Description
We are looking for a candidate who can fulfill both a sales manager and general manager role for both our educational resource sales as well as agency business.
Job functions will include:
- Plan overall sales and marketing strategy. Implement and follow through of sales plan with the sales and marketing team.
- Manage small team of sales and marketing staff.
- Oversee connection between sales/marketing team and operations team.
- New business development (plan and oversee launch of new products, new sales channels; build relationships with new overseas clients and suppliers.
- Conduct face to face sale meetings with Japanese and foreign companies, schools, and universities. Follow up on email and phone with customers as well as overseas suppliers/publishers.
- Attending to foreign client staff who visit Japan. Attend sales visits with foreign staff. May include translation for meetings.
- Travel within Japan will be common, and may include travel outside of Japan (Europe, America, Asia) sometimes accompanying staff of Japanese companies. Attending and translating during these business trips when accompanying Japanese clients.
Requirements:
- Native level English. Business level Japanese. Must be able to conduct business meetings comfortably in English and Japanese.
- Experience with sales and/or management preferred.
- Able to work comfortably in Japanese work environment.
- Desired attributes: Someone who takes responsibility, follows through, self-starter. Confidence in meetings, both in Japanese and English. Comfortable to meet with company executives and academic administrative level personnel. Experienced in Japanese business manner. Comfortable communicating in written and spoken English and Japanese.
