Description:

Full-time in-house Translator (Japanese- English)

 

A great job for someone who wants to start out a translation career, or one who wants to improve translation skills!

 

The translator would be based in the General affairs division of a large company listed on the 1st section of the Tokyo stock exchange, in the head office in central Tokyo. The organisation has offices all over Japan and various domestic/ international stakeholders, with a growing number of foreign national employees and a need for effective and culturally sensitive communication. This is a new position and there is a real possibility to make the job your own. The unit you will be assigned to is comprised currently of all Japanese nationals, with an open communication culture. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with limited prior translation experience looking to enter translation work in a FT capacity.

 

The main duties of this job will be as follows:

Japanese → English translation of content that originate both inside and outside the company (including e-mail and internal communications)

Increase vertical and horizontal of the connection of the entire group, with effective translation of in-house public relations materials and measures using unique company terminology

Share cultural and linguistic advice and insights as necessary

Ad hoc proofreading or other administrative tasks as necessary

 

Ideal candidate:

Must be capable of communicating smoothly in written and spoken Japanese and English in a business setting

No JLPT qualifications are necessary, but for non-Japanese the expectation would be to have linguistic competence at the equivalent of JLPT N2 or higher

Translation experience is preferred but not necessary

Proactive and with a positive attitude towards learning and self-development

Diligent, able to self-motivate, willingness to support other members of the team

Able to work effectively as the only non-Japanese member in a large unit

 

Condition highlights:

Hot-desking, flex-time system (8 hours/ day, core hours 11:00-15:00, 1 hour break)

Starting salary 3 million /year+bonuses (social insurance, employee stockholder program and other benefits)

Transportation is paid

One year contract with possibility to become permanent staff.

Ideal start before 1st April 2020

Visa sponsorship available, only open to domestic candidates (foreign nationals must have permission to work in Japan)
