Summer Camp 2026 Basic Schedule

• July 17-20: Onsite Staff Training (departure from Tokyo station to the campsite on July 16 evening)

Job Description:

The position involves teaching of five or six lessons for children in a day (50 minutes each) and one or two lessons for adults a day (50 minutes). Besides the lessons, the school prepares few seasonal events each year, such as Christmas, Halloween, and one or two summer events.

For all contract employees, attendances at these events are mandatory; however, the pay of the day will be counted as overtime in case of the day being a holiday.

In the lessons for children, the classes are divided into twelve different levels of students based on age and ability, with maximum size up to six children. This means our teachers must teach many different classes every single week.

—The Role—

An ALT’s work in public schools centers around creating positive interactions with the students both inside and outside the classroom and helping to provide enjoyable and energetic lessons. ALTs also develop and maintain a positive and supportive professional relationship with Japanese teachers by assisting with various tasks during the school year. Interac’s standardized compensation system gives you 12 full monthly payments throuought the year, so you’ll always know what to expect each month. Full-time ALTs usually work weekdays between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and generally have evenings and weekends free. Work-related commuting expenses are reimbursed monthly.

TRAINING AND GROWTH

Interac’s paid five-day initial training covers the Japanese education system, teaching methods, lesson design, and hands-on demo teaching. After placement, teachers receive classroom observation, feedback, and ongoing local training. If you want to build transferable skills and grow over time, Interac presents ALT work as a real development path, not just a temporary role. Internal movement to Head Teacher, or to office roles through our SPP (Staff Preparation Program) is open to teachers after their first complete contract.

◆ Teachers

While we support teachers with an established curriculum and lesson plans, successful teachers grow and expand on these foundations by providing their own unique and original games and lesson ideas. Working shifts are nine hours (including one-hour lunch break). Shifts generally fall between the hours of 9:00 to 20:00 from Monday to Friday (some weekend work may be required). A typical shift is from 11:00 to 20:00.
