Our ideal candidate:

  • At least Fluent proficiency in Japanese and strong proficiency in English
  • Proven experience in translation and localization, particularly in a professional context
  • Proven experience working on Japanese marketing, content, branding related initiatives
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and linguistic consistency
  • Knowledge of terminology management and glossary creation
  • Good understanding marketing tools, platforms, channels, and specifications
  • Basic understanding of SEO, and UI/UX best practices
  • Nice to have skills in other aspects of marketing across design, social media, advertising
  • Team player with ability to contribute and generate ideas for improvements


Job Summary and Objectives:

In an ever changing, fast-paced and competitive environment, the Japanese Marketing Specialist will play a key role in Japanese marketing initiatives to represent the brand's unique values and achieve business objectives. Brand is the strength of each company, and this role based on insights and business goals will contribute to content creation that will convey those strengths, differentiate from competitors, and engage with current and future customers. This role will play a pivotal role in ensuring relevancy, consistency, accuracy in messaging across digital and offline channels, as well as a variety of content formats, to improve customer awareness, engagement, and conversion covering a variety of touch points.

Ideally, this person will be working at the Tokyo Academics office in Nishiazabu, during our regular business hours (10 AM – 7 PM Japan Standard Time) and may need to make off-site visits to schools, camp locations, vendors, and partners. Flexibility for hybrid work arrangements may also be considered based on organizational needs and the role's requirements.


What you will work on:

  • Content creation and accurate localization from English to Japanese, updates, improvements and maintenance across digital and offline channels, including Website, Landing Pages, Newsletter, Social Media, Advertising, Blog, Events, Affiliate, Print
  • Content writing, review, proofread to maintain linguistic accuracy and consistency for optimal user experience and engagement, while applying best practices of channels specifications and SEO
  • Ensure that content is culturally relevant and appropriate for Japanese audiences, making necessary adaptations to idioms, cultural references, and nuances
  • Work closely with teams on Marketing initiative, utilizing spectrum of available and new Marketing channels, variety of assets, and insights to drive business performance
  • Develop, improve, and maintain Japanese content brand guidelines, glossary and other applicable documents for marketing initiatives, ensuring consistency and optimal customer experience across channels and touchpoints
  • Leverage analytics tools and platforms to improve content quality and user experience which will result in improved business metrics

Work hours:

  • 40 hours / week
  • Working in-person from 10AM to 7PM Japan Standard Time; Flexibility for hybrid work arrangements may also be considered
