English Garden will be starting its 2nd year as an all-English Immersion after school program. We work within Tsutsujigaoka Kindergarten and work together with the kindergarten to make each experience a memorable one. Since we focus more on daily interaction and practical English, we get to have a lot of fun.

Experience

• Native English speaker
• Teaching experience within Japan
• Experience with children as young as 2 years old preferred.
• Visa required (visa renewal support available)
• 4 Year degree required for visa sponsorship.
• Interest in crafts, sports, games, and just fun conversations with kids!
• Monday-Friday working days (occasional events on Saturday required)]
• Working hours 10:00-19:00. (1 hour lunch break)
  • Summer hours and long holidays hours subject to change.
  • Long holiday hours require a teacher from the morning.

Personality

• Primary focus is on Elementary school aged students, but because we work inside of a kindergarten and you will be required to also teach English to very small children, we are looking for someone that is open, fun, and sometimes strict.
• Looking for someone proactive and committed to teaching.
• There will be time where you will need to be flexible.
• Someone that is generally happy with a good sense of humor.

Job Description 

You will primarily be an afterschool native teacher that will involve quite a bit of responsibility. We have a daily schedule, but we would like you to be flexible to make sure the learning experience takes priority.

Main priorities

Morning kindergarten English lessons 3 times a week. Each lesson will be 20-30 minutes depending on the age and class.

• 3-year-old lessons are on Mondays and are 20 min long each. 3 classes.
• 4-year-old lessons are on Tuesdays and are 30 min long each. 2 classes.
• 5-year-old lessons are on Fridays and are 30 min long each. 2 classes.

Afterschool program will start from 2:00 where you will prepare for student pick-up.

• School pick-up time is between 2:30-2:35 on average.
  • Some days there will be early pick up.
• Our school cares for kids from elementary 1st grade to 3rd grade. We focus on an all-immersive education with a full staff that speak English. The afterschool program is a staff of 3, including 1 native speaker and 2 Japanese bi-lingual teachers. If you enjoy just speaking with kids and helping them on their journey to learn English, we are the place for you.
• You will be a major part of their daily education.
  • Preparing daily activities
  • Playing games
  • Going to the park
  • Getting ready for lunch (on days school ends early) and snacks.
  • Helping plan and prepare for holiday events, summer camp, and other festivities.
• We don't have a time designated for lessons, we prefer to teach through daily activities and regular everyday interaction.
• It's vital that the kids have a full day of immersive English interaction.
