Minimum Requirements

• Native-level English proficiency
• Bachelor's degree or higher
• At least 5 years of teaching experience in a Preschool or Kindergarten setting
• Strong classroom management skills
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Passion for early childhood education
• Positive, energetic, and caring personality

Preferred Qualifications

• Teaching license or Early Childhood Education qualification
• Experience as a homeroom teacher
• Experience working in an international school
• Experience with STEAM, inquiry-based, or play-based learning
• Experience living and working in Japan is an advantage

Language Requirements

• English: Native or near-native proficiency

Location

• Applicants must currently reside in Japan and hold a valid visa to work in Japan. Visa renewal support is available for eligible candidates.

Visa

• Applicants must have a valid work visa or be eligible to obtain one.

Education

• Bachelor's degree or higher

Working Days / Hours

• Monday to Friday
• Typically 9:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.
• 8 working hours per day with a 1-hour lunch break

New World International School is a well-established international preschool in Chofu, Tokyo, with over 20 years of experience providing a caring and engaging English-learning environment for young children.

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Kindergarten Homeroom Teacher to join our close-knit team.

This position is ideal for a teacher who loves working with young children, enjoys building strong relationships with families, and believes that children learn best through hands-on experiences, creativity, and play.

You will be the homeroom teacher for a class of approximately ten children aged 4–5 years, planning and leading engaging daily activities while supporting each child's academic, social, and emotional growth.

Our curriculum is built around STEAM education, hands-on learning, and a theme-based approach, and includes nature walks, cooking, gardening, arts and crafts, and literacy development. We encourage curiosity, independence, kindness, and a lifelong love of learning.

As a small school, teamwork is at the heart of everything we do. Our teachers collaborate closely, share ideas, prepare learning materials together, participate in school events, and help maintain a welcoming and organized learning environment.
