INTESOL Japan

An introduction to INTESOL Japan

INTESOL Japan was established in 2011 as the Japanese branch of INTESOL Worldwide in the UK, under a franchise agreement. From that time, INTESOL Japan’s instructors have all been active English teachers residing in Australia, and all have experience teaching overseas in Eastern Europe, Asia, China, and Japan. Furthermore, INTESOL’s course notes were written in the Shakespeare country, the UK, and so not only offer in-depth insights into TESOL but also include numerous episodes, making them fun to read. Each module of the course notes concludes with a report assignment that helps students practice creating lesson plans. By repeating this process multiple times, students have time to develop their own teaching methods and prepare well for future lessons.

Why INTESOL Japan qualifications matter to schools

INTESOL Japan’s TESOL courses have English proficiency requirements: students must meet either (1) be a native speaker or (2) have achieved an IELTS Academic 6.0 score. This ensures that all graduates of INTESOL Japan’s TESOL courses possess an English proficiency level of IELTS Academic 6.0 or higher at the start of the course, and have also studied 150 hours of English teaching methodology. While INTESOL Japan’s TESOL courses are taken by people from all over the world, including non-native speakers, this English proficiency requirement guarantees the quality of graduates.

What differentiates INTERSOL Japan from others

INTESOL’s courses are not just about inputting knowledge. There are many opportunities to express your own thoughts through English report assignments called tasks. This is designed to help students consider which materials to use and which lessons to conduct to make learning English enjoyable. Our ideal is for students to develop their own unique methods of teaching English through the course. We believe that “Unhappy students learn very little. Happy teachers can make students motivated.”

What employers should know about INTERSOL Japan training

INTESOL Japan has accepted nearly 1,000 students to date. At the start of the course, these students are either native speakers or possess English proficiency equivalent to IELTS Academic 6.0 or higher. In addition, because INTESOL’s TESOL courses require many report assignments, which are tough for less motivated students, about two-thirds successfully complete the 150- or 180-hour course. This proves that INTESOL Japan graduates are proficient in English and have mastered essential teaching skills for English instruction.
