An introduction to The Language House
The Language House is an accredited course operating since 2004. We run an intensive four-week program year-round, taking a week off between each course and only one extended break during December (holiday time).
Our time during those 4 weeks include sessions on teaching methodology, job interview and preparation, Czech lessons, online teaching, phonetics, 1-1 teaching, etc. Basically, imagine anything you’d need to know about how to not only teach English but also make it in a foreign country; that’s what we cover!
Why our qualifications matter to schools:
We’ve created quite the reputation here in Prague; hiring schools and companies now know what to expect from our grads. They know whoever they hire from our program will come with not only the knowledge learned during our course but also actual teaching experience in real classrooms with real students.
What The Language House training covers:
130 hours of methodology and grammar training, including a minimum of 6 hours of teaching practicum covering levels A2 – C1, as well as two 1-on-1 lessons. We observe our trainees and provide feedback on all of their teaching and homework assignments.
What differentiates The Language House from others:
At The Language House, the focus is not only on learning how to teach effectively but also on succeeding when moving and living abroad. Our program offers student housing during the course (for an additional fee), housing assistance to find long-term accommodation post-course, job assistance (including a monthly job fair), free introductory visa assistance, and a visa agent connection (if you choose to work with them), basic survival Czech lessons, and probably the most important part: our huge alumni community with countless events.
What employers should know about our training, and why it matters:
We want our trainees to succeed. If a trainee struggles, we do everything we can to ensure that they leave more experienced and capable to teach than when they arrived. Our goal is for every trainee who leaves to walk into their next job confident, prepared, and eager.
