About Washington Institute of Language
Washington Institute of Language is located in downtown Kumamoto, a medium-sized city of around 700,000 people in southwestern Japan. The city is noted for its famous Kumamoto castle, which was home to a samurai lord, and for the natural surrounding environment.
The city is within an hour of beautiful Mt. Aso and the western coastal city of Amakusa. Summers are hot and tropical, while winters infrequently see snow. As a metropolitan area, you’ll find plenty of comforts from home, such as Starbucks, KFC, McDonald’s and Baskin Robbins, as well as traditional Japanese cuisine, shops and entertainment.
