We are Dream English, part of Naiki Gakuen, located in Shimotsuke City, Tochigi Prefecture.

We are looking for a native English teacher for 2-12 year aged students.

English: Native level.
The applicant have to be currently living in Japan.

Work days/hours : 8h/5days in a week, 118 days of annual leave.

Job Description

There are multiple classes in Dream English, and you will be in charge of the following classes depending on your work shift, and you will be responsible for teaching and preparing for them. There are currently 5 teams.

Kindergarten Class (9:30~11:30): 20 or 30 minute lessons team-taught with a bilingual Japanese teacher. One or two homeroom teachers (who only speak Japanese) will also be present. Lesson content includes songs, games and interesting activities.

Extracurricular Kindergarten Class (14:05~14:50 and 15:10~15:55): Weekly 45 minute lessons team-taught with a bilingual Japanese teacher. Lesson content includes alphabet and phonics, songs, games, and a craft or writing activity.

Extracurricular Elementary School Class (15:40~): 1-3 times a week, depending on the class. Usually team-taught with a bilingual Japanese teacher. Lesson content includes English conversation, phonics, grammar, and also practice for the English proficiency exam (Eiken and Eiken Jr.)

...And from 2024 Kindergarten half-international class will begin. 9:30~12:00 a native-teacher stay at kindergarten class and do English activity as main teacher, also join to Japanese activities (keyboard harmonica, gymnastics, Hiragana writing, lunch time, etc.) as sub teacher. The teacher in charge of this international class will be dedicated to it. At 2024 the teacher in charge is already decided but we have a plan to expand international class next 2025 year.

You can prepare lessons at teachers room in working hour that you don't scheduled any lesson. At monthly meeting we discuss about lesson plan, events, carricurum, etc.

<Job type>
- One year contract, full time job

*After one year, based on mutual agreement, we may offer permanent employment (正社員) with bonuses and severance pay (available after two years employment).

<Salary>
- Full time : 260,000 - 300,000 yen per month
* Starting salary amount will be decided based on skills and experience

Following will be paid separately from monthly salary:

• Bonus, after 2nd working year, about basic salary*3 per year. At 1st year about 100000 yen per year.
• Transportation allowance based on distance from kindergarten, from 800 to 20000 yen for car commute.
• Housing allowance. If you need to move, 50% of the rent will be paid as an allowance.

<Requirements>

• Must have experience working with small children.
• Must be able to interact well with children, and report to other staff properly.
• Must be a native speaker of English.
• Must currently live in Japan, and must reside within reasonable commuting distance from the kindergarten or be willing to relocate (at your own expense).

<Preferred>

• Ability to speak Japanese at a conversational level.
• Must have common sense while working at a Japanese company.
• Must have or be willing to obtain a valid Japanese driver’s license (AT only OK).

<Working Hours>
Monday thru Friday, 9:00 to 18:00 (includes a 1 hour break) on most days.
* Shift may change to 8:00 to 17:00 during school vacation periods.

Overtime available: If you are in charge of the morning class (8:45~9:15) or late after school class (17:40~18:30), you will be paid at our overtime rate.

<Holidays>
Saturdays, Sundays and National Holidays off.

* However, we will ask you to work four holidays per year (may be a Saturday, Sunday or National Holiday) for kindergarten events and trial lessons. total 118 days / year off.

<Location>
Yakushiji Kindergarten
Shimotsuke-shi, Tochigi.
* 5 minutes from JR Jichii Medical University (Jichiidai) Station by car

* You may commute by car.

* We also hold lessons at Daini Yakushiji Kindergarten and other nursery schools in Shimotsuke and Utsunomiya. You may travel to these locations by company car.

Easy access to Oyama, Utsunomiya, Mibu, Tochigi, Chikusei, Yuuki, Moka and the nearby city of Shimotsuke.
