Job Description

Who we are

BMC is an English conversation school located in Jiyugaoka, a trendy town that is popular among Japanese and foreign people alike. Our school was established in 2002 and has currently over 150 students. We have students of all ages and provide them with private, one-to-one, lessons. We aim to create a friendly and relaxed environment for our students. We believe that this helps our students feel comfortable when learning a new language.

We are a school that values our teachers’ ideas and creativity, so we always try to communicate and help make their ideas become a reality. We believe that this is beneficial to both our staff and, of course, our students.

Part-time teaching position responsibilities:

• Teach English grammar and natural expressions to our students. Our school provides lessons to both kids and adults. (6 years old ~ 70+ years old)
• Most of our lessons are provided in person, but there are some students who prefer to take their lessons online. In this case, we provide them lessons through Skype or Zoom (from our school).
• Provide special lessons like listening, news, travel, debate, etc.

Note: We provide all necessary teaching materials.

Who we are looking for

• Friendly, patient, and someone with a positive mindset
• A team player
• Good communication skills, this includes being culturally sensitive
• Teaching experience is not necessary but must have good command of English grammar

Working hours

We are looking for someone who can start in November of 2024 and these times:

• Every Saturday: 11:00 ~ 20:00
• Sundays:  11:00 ~ 20:00 *Not all Sundays of the month
• One to two weekdays: 13:00 ~ 22:00 (These days and times may vary)

Note:

1. The teachers can submit a request on which days they want off. Please note that we are specifically looking for someone who can work on Saturdays and some Sundays.
2. The hours above may vary depending on that day’s schedule. This means that there may be days where we may ask the teachers to come a little later or leave earlier.The main reason for this is students canceling their lesson for that day, but it can also be because of severe weather conditions.

Salary

• ¥ 2,000 / hour (negotiable)

Note:The teacher will be given a raise depending on their performance and skills throughout their time working with us.
