Job Requirements

Core Requirements

• A minimum of three years teaching experience
• Confident and experienced teaching business and academic classes
• Able to effectively teach lower-level students who are strong enough for a native teacher
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must reside in Japan
• Appropriate work visa

SAT Classes (Top Priority)

• If interested in teaching SAT:
  • Able to teach SAT and SSAT to native-level students
  • Ability to teach the math* section from both tests (we can train teachers with a solid math foundation)

General Test Classes (2nd Priority)

• If interested in teaching tests, able to teach one or more of the following:
  • IELTS
  • TOEFL
  • EIKEN (STEP) / TEAP
• Good to excellent knowledge of specific tests techniques to improve test scores

Face-to-face

• Reside within reasonable travel distance

Online (SAT or General Test Teachers)

• Intermediate computer skills with the ability and mindset to learn new technology
• A suitable quiet and professional environment with stable internet and reliable computer equipment

Job Description

Alpros is presently seeking professional teachers for Face-to-face (F2F) and Online lessons for the following time ranges (in order of priority):

• Weekday Evenings (18:00 – 21:50) – 2x50m or 3x50m private
• Weekends (10:00 – 17:50) – Full days of 6x50m / 3x50m group / 2x50m or 3x50m private lesson/s
• Weekdays (10:00 – 17:50) – Full days of 6x50m / 3x50m group / 2x50m or 3x50m private lesson/s

For evening F2F classes, we are looking for teachers who are already working in the area or live close by. Most classes would likely be 2x50m or perhaps 3x50m so do consider the travel time. These would be good classes to add a little extra work on top of a daytime / afternoon schedule.

Note: F2F teachers in currently in stronger demand as most of our clients prefer coming to the school.

Career Development Opportunities:

In addition to teaching, suitable F2F applicants may also have the chance to assist our curriculum department. Typical responsibilities are as follows:

• Computer based work preparing lesson materials and syllabi
• Assisting with scheduling and communication with teachers
• Interviewing and assessing new students along with providing demonstration lesson

This will hopefully lead to a position within the core curriculum team for suitable teachers where they would play a bigger part in the direction of the school and our courses.

We are also provide training for learning new academic tests for those that are interested. This is highly encouraged as it allows teachers to take on a much wider range of classes at the school.

What you would do:

Working from our school in Shinjuku or online, you would help motivated students achieve their goals. Typical customers are looking to achieve specific test scores, preparing to live, study, and/or work overseas, or are working / studying in international environments in Japan.

Details:

• Y2,000 to 2,500 per 50-minute lesson based on experience and abilities
• Paid transportation
