Part-time Teacher for Kids and Adults

Job Requirements

Successful candidates should have native-level English skills and at least a basic understanding of Japanese. A few years of teaching experience in Japan, having taught both adults and children is preferred.

As we are looking to hire a teacher soon, successful applicants must now live in Japan, preferably near our location in Koganei City, Tokyo. Holding a valid visa that allows the applicant to work soon after being hired is necessary.

We will need a teacher who can work both on weekdays and on weekends, between 20 and 25 hours a week. If the successful applicant would like to teach more, there is a strong possibility that we can accommodate the request.

Job Description

Our school is located in a “university town”, Koganei City, with about seven universities in the area.

Many of the families and individuals that move to our area do so because of the high level of education at both our public and private schools. To support the English-related educational needs of these people, Guarantee Language strives to find experienced, professional teachers who truly enjoy their chosen profession.

All classes at Guarantee Language are taught here at our neighborhood school, which has a very warm, “at home” feeling. Teachers are not asked to spend their time shuffling between different teaching locations.

Our teachers are given much freedom in the choosing of the materials they would like to use in their classes. Most of our teachers have been teaching in Japan for some time and have developed their own unique teaching styles. We encourage all teachers to use the knowledge of teaching they have acquired along with their unique personalities to help decide what is best for the students they teach.

If you like, you are welcome to use Japanese in class to explain directions or concepts that are difficult for students to clearly understand with only an English explanation.

Some of our teachers have been teaching with us for a long time, a few for around 20 years or more. If you are looking for a stable position where your teaching and effort will always be appreciated, this really may be the school for you.

The successful candidate will be offered a contract through November 2025 with the option to renew for following years.
