Job Description
ABOUT THE JOB
We're looking for a talented storyteller who can create compelling video content for our YouTube channel! Successful applicants will have a background in video production including camerawork, lighting and audio setup, and solid editing skills.
We’re Solaris Japan, a company dedicated to bringing anime-related goods to collectors worldwide. We mostly sell figures, as well as games and related merch, although we’re always looking for new opportunities.
Just like with otaku goods, we are lucky to have easy access to Japan’s unique pop culture and want to show this to the world. This means we want to create digital content (mostly video) to share across a variety of marketing channels, like social media.
Since our content team is small, we need team members who can wear multiple hats and maintain the initiative to develop projects and see them through. We are looking for someone who has a passion for anime and gaming, and loves creating content. At the core of this position, we need someone who is a creative thinker with unique storytelling ideas. Some general expectations for this position include:
- Content ideation, planning, and creation (e.g. pitching, filming, editing)
- Build and maintain the brand through exceptional creative including messaging, tone, content production, and design
- Stay on top of current trends and opportunities (including videos, audio, hashtags, creators, etc.)
- Report on performance as needed
Requirements:
Must-haves
- Prior experience in digital video content production (portfolio required)
- Ability to tell a story and convey messages clearly, creatively, and in a compelling manner
- Solid production (camera operation, lighting, audio) and post-production skills (basic color correction and graphics/animation)
Nice-to-haves
- Prior experience with or passion for set design
- An understanding of major social media platforms
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, film/video production or related field
- Copywriting skills
Application Process:
If you're excited to join our dynamic team and have the qualifications we're looking for, please submit your resume, tailored cover letter, and portfolio detailing your relevant experience and what you can bring to the table.
After this, you will complete an online interview and a potential in-person interview/trial day.
Please understand that due to the number of applications we receive, we will only be able to contact candidates whose qualifications match our requirements and who are selected for further consideration. Thank you for your understanding.
ABOUT OUR TEAM
Our team is made up of young, international staff from all over the world, although we all speak English at the office. If you have a passion for anime, gaming, or Japanese pop culture in general, you’ll definitely find a friend in us! But our passions extend beyond our hobbies and into our work – we are a team of self-starters who are driven by results and thrive on new challenges. This also means that we don’t have time for corporate hierarchy or politics, since what you can contribute matters the most. Yoroshiku!
