Job Description

Heart is hiring Assistant Language Teachers (ALTs) for public schools in Nogata City, Fukuoka.

This role is for dedicated, professional educators who want to build a stable teaching career in Japan while supporting English education in local schools. ALTs will work with Japanese Teachers of English, help students communicate with confidence, and become part of the school community in Nogata City.

Important requirement: A driver’s license is required. An international or Japanese driver’s license is acceptable, and a car can be provided if needed.

Key responsibilities

• Support Japanese Teachers of English (JTEs) during English classes
• Assist with lesson delivery, especially communication practice and student engagement
• Encourage students to build confidence speaking English
• Prepare classroom materials and activities as needed
• Take part in school events and everyday school activities

Preferred candidates

• Currently residing in Japan
• Have an international or Japanese driver’s license
• Want long-term employment in Fukuoka
• Are comfortable teaching teenagers and/or young learners
• Are committed, adaptable, and ready to make a meaningful contribution in Japanese schools
