Job Description
JobsinJapan.com is sponsoring the upcoming EFL Expo being held in Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka and are looking for volunteers.
As you know, one of the best ways to find a job is to grow one's professional network. While it is great to attend conferences and events (you are all invited to attend), you can meet more people and more key people by being involved with the organizers. Those organizing and present at the events usually very connected and there is no better way to meet these people than being active at the event.
You don't have volunteer the whole day as we are sure there are some session you would like to attend as well. Current roles available (Great if you can do more than one):
Set-up/Tear-down
Events don’t just happen and many hands make light work. We need help with:
- Setting up tables and chairs
- Setting up registration including name badges and gift bags
- Setting up coffee and tea stations
- Displaying event signage
Registration and check-in.
Help check in attendees, provide name tags, etc.
Coat Check / Bag Check
Staff the area specifically designed for people to leave and then later pick-up their coats and bags.
Audio Visual for Presenters
Most of the presenters are decent with technology, but it always good to have someone around to make sure that any audio and video presentation is working.
Workshop Monitors / Audience Q&A / Session timing
Make sure the presenters are on time, know how much time is left in the session or before Q&A, attend to anything the presenter may need and just help out to make sure everything is running smoothly.
Photographer
Um...er... take pictures of the event, sessions, etc.
Jack of All Trades
No specific role other than to help where needed
Payment / Renumeration
This is a volunteer event and even the organizers are doing this without pay, however, volunteers will receive:
- Transportation paid
- Lunch
- Certificate of appreciation
- Something to put on your resume to show that you are taking an active role in English Teaching Community / Professional Development
