About Us:

Little Starfish International School, located in Chigasaki City, Kanagawa Prefecture, is currently accepting applications for a Preschool Teacher position. We are looking for a positive, hard-working, professional teacher with plenty of energy who is dedicated to the education of young children and works well with other professional teachers.

Little Starfish International School is located 5 minutes walk from Chigasaki Station (Tokaido, Sagami and Shonan-Shinjuku lines). Our school is only a short 10 minute walk from the famous Southern Beach.

We are a private, family owned International Montessori School. Our classes are Toddler (1-3 yrs), Preschool (3-6 yrs), Preschool After School,  Elementary After School (6 yrs and up) and Saturday class (3-6 yrs), all of our classes are mixed age. Our school currently has close to 100 students, we are housed in a recently renovated facility with a total of 3 classrooms, office and playground.

Being an International school all classes are taught completely in English. We also implement the Montessori teaching method so we respect every child for the unique individual that they are, and nurture their confidence and motivation by guiding them to achieve their goals. We want our students to be positive, independent and grow up to be citizens who better the world!

About the position:

Working Hours:
-Monday to Friday 8:00~5:00

-Average of 25 teaching hours per week plus class preparation time

-Daily 1 hour lunch break

 

Responsibilities include:

-Teaching children in the preschool course using the Montessori method

-Supervising children during playtime

-Writing reports and handling P/T meetings

-Creating teaching materials

-Communicating with parents

-Participating in all school events such as Sports Day, School Camp, Excursions, Halloween etc...

-Attending staff meetings

-General classroom cleaning and maintenance

-Handling daily class Blog with other teachers

Job Requirements:

-Reliable, punctual and professional

-Must be able to conduct lessons with English fluency

-University Degree

-Teaching License or experience teaching in Japan

-Montessori teachers license or experience highly favored but not compulsory

-Basic computer skills
