Job Requirements
Native level fluency in English: Applicants must demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills in English.
Teaching experience: Applicants should have at least one year of experience teaching English.
Residency: Applicants must currently reside in or near Sendai, Japan. We are unable to assist with relocation due to the part-time nature of the position.
Bachelor’s Degree: While a degree in any field is acceptable, those in English, education, or related fields are preferred.
Versatility: Candidates must be comfortable and experienced in teaching students of all ages, from young learners to adults.
Preferred Qualifications:
Japanese Language Skills: Basic Japanese skills are beneficial to facilitate communication with students.
Certification: TEFL/TESOL/CELTA certification is preferred but not required.
Knowledge of Japanese culture: A familiarity with Japanese culture and customs is advantageous.
Job Description
Hope Springs is seeking an enthusiastic part-time English teacher to join our small friendly team in Izumi, Sendai. The successful candidate will provide high-quality English instruction to a diverse range of students, from young children to adults.
Expectations and Responsibilities:
As an English teacher at Hope Springs, your primary responsibility will be to deliver effective English instruction tailored to our students' unique learning needs. Your tasks will include:
- Preparing and delivering engaging English lessons
- Assessing student progress and providing constructive feedback
You should be versatile and comfortable teaching students across all age groups.
Work Schedule:
This part-time role requires teachers to work a few hours each week at first. We are open from Tuesday to Saturday, and we need teachers on weekdays in the daytime (before 3 pm) and evenings (after 6 pm); and on Saturdays (10 am to 6 pm). As our school grows, there may be opportunities for increased hours. Specific work days will be discussed during the interview process.
