Job Description
We are a family owned and operated English school that has been open since 2012. We currently have four schools with around 250 students and growing!
We are looking for a full time teacher that can work responsibility with minimal supervision. After the training period is complete, you will basically be able to run your school branches daily operations. We trust the employees that we hire to become a proud member of the team and allow them to be creative in teaching practices. It is important to create a work environment that promotes growth and respect. This is how we treat the teachers here at Merry West English. Classroom performance and the ability to maintain student numbers will be rewarded with bonuses and yearly raises. We also have incentives for teachers that are run throughout the year. If you are successful, then we are successful and that is why we try to provide a comfortable work atmosphere with two days off consecutively each week. We also have five weeks of paid vacation a year. Company cars are also available for rent to use in your free time as well. It is important when you live in the countryside to have a way to explore!
The majority of our students are elementary school aged but we also teach preschool, junior/high school and adults. You will get a variety of opportunities each day to talk with all ages. Classes do not exceed seven students and the work hours will not exceed 40 hours per week.
It is important that teachers are willing to sing and dance with the children and try their best to maintain a positive classroom environment for all ages. Teachers must consider themselves to be sociable as a face of the company and not afraid to meet new people. It is important that the teacher demonstrate good organizational skills and classroom management. You are allowed to have the freedom to create and decorate your class. We always encourage creativity! All curriculums are prepared in advance and textbook oriented so you are not required to spend hours each week in prep work. Teacher need only to add their personal “spice” to the classroom in the way they choose to teach their classes.
Our schools are located in Suzuka (2 locations), Yokkaichi and Kameyama.
Life in Mie is relaxing and quiet. If you think countryside living is the right fit for you, please consider giving our school a try! Not only is living in Mie cheaper than the big cities, it is also safer. Japan has a history of natural disasters and while nowhere is completely safe, Mie does have the protection of Ise Bay as well as open land without worry of landslides.
