What you’ll bring:
- B.S. or M.S. in an Engineering discipline combined with a Business or MBA degree
- Minimum 4 years of experience in a Business Development or Project Management capacity; Candidates with automotive/energy company experience, STRONGLY preferred
- Fluency in both Japanese and English
- Demonstrated expertise in building and strengthening relationships with crucial decision-makers
- Proficiency in developing and giving presentations
- Comfort-level with learning, strategizing, introducing, selling and scaling products
- Ability to serve as a consultant, with a problem-solving approach
- No fear of hard work
- A high level of independence, self-discipline and self-motivation to continuously deliver even when working independently
- Solid proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Google suite of products
- An ability to travel 25% of the time, domestically. (Occasional travel to US headquarters, as well.)

About the Role:
As Ample’s Business Development Manager in Japan, you will help shape and deliver on a strategy for Ample to build mind share and adoption of its electric vehicle swapping technology among automotive, energy and last mile delivery companies and stimulate interest in the investment community. The landscape is vast and complex. You will support Ample’s U.S. Executive team in better understanding this landscape, digging deep to bring data and insight to light that will enable the entire team to optimally engage partners and prospects.
The ideal candidate will possess both a business and technical background that enables them to drive engagement and interact with investors, automotive OEMs, energy companies and deployment partners. He/she should also have a demonstrated ability to think strategically and analytically about business, product and technical challenges, with the ability to build and convey compelling value propositions, and work cross-organizationally to build consensus. A keen sense of ownership, drive and creativity is a must! Experience scaling a startup business and/or hardware related products would be considered a significant bonus.
