Benefits of being an ALT
ALTs in Japan provide a vital service for Japanese public schools. They enjoy the benefits of working in a stable and professional working environment supervised by real teachers in Japan. This working environment gives those working as ALTs an excellent opportunity to learn teaching skills, improve their Japanese, and work with a sense of purpose.
ALTs also enjoy consistent daytime working hours, meaning they have evenings and weekends off to pursue their interests. No late-night grind to deal with. This means ALTs have a better work-life balance than other foreign English teachers in Japan who might have to work shift schedules or late into the night.
ALTs get all national holidays off from work just like other workers in Japan. ALTs also get significant time off from school in August which can be used for travel, recreation, or working on other passion projects. It's the perfect chance to see and experience more of Japan.
All positions include paid vacation and some locations provide Social Insurance.
Duration
School year start: April 2025 to March 2026
New hires with good performance could be offered a contract for a further year.
