Job Description
Kinnohoshi Kindergarten in Yokohama has a proud 75-year tradition of excellence in early childhood education. We go beyond standard curriculums with diverse classes taught by specialists (in Japanese), such as logical thinking, kanji, painting, and marching band. Our marching band performs at events throughout the year, culminating in the “All Japan Children’s Marching Competition.” Field trips, including the popular river net fishing, are a highlight for all ages. These activities build confidence, foster social skills, and create lasting memories that inspire a lifelong love of learning.
Position Overview:
We seek a passionate and dedicated English-speaking teacher to join our team of 8 English teachers (from different countries and cultures). Each class at Kinnohoshi Kindergarten has two teachers: one English-speaking teacher and one Japanese teacher. The Japanese teacher supports and guides the English teacher. Japanese and non-native teachers are treated equally in terms of workload and compensation. Good communication between the teachers is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Co-teach a class of kindergarten students alongside a Japanese-speaking teacher.
- Bring your ideas to add to the curriculum already in place.
- Create a safe, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment.
- Participate in school events and activities. E.g. Sports day and school festivals.
Working Hours:
1. Monday to Friday, from 09:00 to 18:00 (1 hour break), may vary depending on shift. (subject to school calendar and events).
Compensation:
- Salary: ¥288,000 / month.
- Relocation stipend: ¥100,000 (Bonus from the 2nd year.)
