English kids classes – Suma
Location: Anchor English: 10mins walk from JR Sumakaihinkoen Station.
Primary focus is giving children a chance to learn natural English and helping them build confidence in using English. The school is modern, with two classrooms and about 80 students.
Students range in age from 1 year olds to 16 year olds – although the majority of the classes are Kindergarten and Elementary.
There is a lot of room for growth at the school, so we’re looking for a teacher who can help us build on the existing curriculum and take the school to the next level.

Adult classes – Gakuentoshi
Location: In front of Gakuentoshi Station.
Primary focus is giving more elderly students a chance to interact with a native teacher and each other once a week, in a highly-intensive English class. The classroom is clean, modern and situated 2 minutes walk from Gakuentoshi station.
Classes are low Intermediate to high level – use a textbook and are very conversation focused. You will need to be able to expand on textbook material with your own repertoire of teaching techniques and activities. Most students are very motivated to learn and actively participate in discussions.
Teachers are scheduled to teach 5 days a week, Tuesday through to Saturday.
Teachers will need to commute to the classrooms by public transportation.
Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday: 1-8pm (7 x45 mins kid classes at Anchor English in Suma, Kobe )
Thursday & Saturday 10-5pm (4 x 90mins adult classes at a classroom in Gakuentoshi, Kobe)*
*Adults classes are held 32 weeks a year – some weeks you will teach the kids instead of adults on Thursdays and Saturdays.
Our teachers work independently at each classroom location and are responsible for teaching the lessons as well as the welfare of each student. The average children’s class size is approximately 3-5 students, adults class size 5-7 students.
Who We’re Looking For
We are in search of individuals who love and are passionate about teaching and children. Someone who recognizes the need to continually be growing and developing themselves and understands the importance of education. We also are looking for teachers who can contribute to our school…we value input and teacher feedback. We are not looking for people who just need a job and happen to be able to speak English.
Professional – we are looking for teachers, not just English speakers.
Experienced – Must love being with young children 1 – 6 years old, as well as experienced in teaching adults (4-6 adults per group)
Flexible. We work with children. Things come up and the ability to take these in your stride is a must.
Mobile – must be willing to work in both Suma school and Gakuentoshi classrooms (relocate if necessary)
Above all; a positive and outgoing attitude.
Visa sponsorship and renewal support is available after 6 months of employment (negotiable). You will need a current visa allowing work in Japan for the initial 6 months.
