Job Description
This salaried teaching position (¥270,000-¥290,000/month) requires 5 days of work per week, Tuesday through Saturday. You will teach various classes in the Yamagata area, primarily in the afternoons and evenings on weekdays, with some morning lessons at local kindergartens and one day as ALT. Classes may include group and one-on-one sessions for students ranging from kindergarten to adults. Teachers have a fixed teaching schedule at between one and four MY locations per week.
Why MY?
- Enjoy 15 flexible holidays/year plus national holidays from day 1, and the freedom to prepare lessons at your convenience—no set office hours required.
- Benefit from one month of paid initial onboarding training and subsequent 10 days per year of all-staff full-day training, ensuring your growth as a professional.
- Build your skills beyond teaching by joining various teams such as:
- Curriculum Development
- Hiring
- Leadership
- Marketing
Each team membership includes a monthly bonus and a small reduction in teaching hours.
- Management and promotion possibilities are open to both Japanese and foreign staff, with no glass ceilings.
- Join our diverse team of educators from 11 different countries. We value teaching excellence over nationality—if you meet our language and teaching standards, you’re welcome at MY.
- Move beyond teaching at an English language school and obtain skills to advance to university teaching roles or pursue advanced degrees in education for teaching in your home countries.
- Apply to become a seishain (正社員), a permanent employee, which includes increased benefits, upon successfully completing your first contract.
Job requirements:
- While this job is not overly difficult, we do have specific expectations and require a strong commitment from our teachers.
- We value dedication to delivering high-quality lessons and a willingness to actively participate in our school's community and professional development.
- Success in this role comes from maintaining high standards and a proactive attitude toward both teaching and continuous improvement.
- This job requires the ability to actively listen to feedback, demonstrate a willingness to learn, and maintain a collaborative attitude.
